Reproductive and sexual health training and support
HCET equips professionals with evidence-based information, learning-centered skills and ongoing support, so schools, clinics, health departments and community organizations across the Great Lakes region can deliver accurate education and compassionate care.

Our focus areas
Our work centers on four areas where accurate information and skilled, trusted professionals make the biggest difference.
Adolescent health
HCET's adolescent programs support schools and community-based organizations so they can implement positive youth development and health education programs for teens, including programs for system-involved youth.
Reproductive & sexual health across the lifespan
Skills-based education, training and technical assistance for healthcare providers, educators and the public health workforce, with accurate, age-appropriate information for every stage of life.
Trauma-informed care
In response to community needs, HCET developed the Midwest Trauma-Informed Training Center (MTITC), offering in-person and virtual training, resources and technical assistance across the Midwest.
Explore MTITCSTI/HIV prevention
HCET partners with organizations and communities to provide evidence-based, destigmatizing STI/HIV prevention strategies and to ensure providers are accessible and highly skilled.
How we help
Every engagement is shaped around your agency and your community. Most partners use a mix of these services.

Education and training
Skills-based, medically accurate training for educators, healthcare providers and the public health workforce, delivered in person, live online and through our virtual learning platform.

Grant and program support
Program development, coordination and implementation support that help organizations launch, fund and sustain reproductive and sexual health programs.

Technical assistance
Hands-on guidance for schools, clinics, community organizations and programs serving system-involved youth, from curriculum choices to day-to-day delivery.

Program evaluation
Outcome tracking, performance measures and quality improvement, so programs know what is working and where to strengthen it.

Why it works
HCET strengthens the people doing the work. When educators and providers have evidence-based information, skills that help learners retain, recall and apply knowledge, and ongoing implementation support, communities experience:
- Better health outcomes
- More consistent and coordinated care
- Reduced disparities in reproductive health indicators
- Safer, trauma-informed environments
- Systems that treat reproductive and sexual health as part of overall wellness
